Windows 7 Starter Edition – 3 app limit to be removed?

According to Microsoft insider Paul Thurrott’s blog, Microsoft has decided to do a U-turn and will now remove the “3 app cap” they placed on Windows 7 Starter Edition.

Windows 7 Starter Edition – 3 app limit

Initially, Microsoft said that users of Windows 7 Starter Edition, (which will be shipping on netbooks), could run a maximum of 3 applications; unless they paid for an upgrade. This was seen by many as a bad move and it appears Microsoft now agree.

At the time of writing this, the news has not been confirmed, but we expect it to be shortly.

WEll if that what would ship with a netbook they are really looking to cut them selff of that market Changing it would make some common sense but it also mean they will kill those running XP home on the netbooks now. Many will spitch to some other OS if the find something they like. I had one client that ran Linux for near 6 month before they found out it wasn’t MS OS. and they are happy with it .

I seen report of peaople getting Mac OS to run on some of the netbooks . this could ne good market for Apple to look at to run rings around MS on some of theos systems.

Now if we could just get MS to just put out 2 version of Win7 and not 7 or 8 we have more progress.
