The Internet rumour mill has been in overdrive today – thanks to Google and a comic book depicting a ‘new’ Google Internet browser; Google Chrome!.

The best place to get initial Google Chrome specs is the blogoscoped blog. I hate it when people just steal content from other blogs and pass it off as their own, so take a look and let me know what you think. Google browser
There have been rumours regarding a Google browser for ages – and it’s easy to see why! The idea of Google owning Internet search and yet allowing you to find what you want using another brand of browser makes no sense. People already write their Internet copy to keep Google happy, they design their websites so Google can find them – so why not look at the Internet through a Google browser too?.
A Google browser will KILL Internet Explorer, Firefox and Co!
In my opinion, if Google Chrome is the real deal – IE, Firefox, Opera and Safari might as well just give up; because a Google browser will kill them off super-fast! Remember, the whole Internet is designed to be found by Google!

IE will definitely go, another browser pwning it up will make it hide its head in the sand. Maybe not the others.
Well, it’s official now – Google ARE enteriing the browser market and things are about to start getting REALLY interesting.
I just spoke with Robert Scoble and he made a GREAT point; “Will people still invest in Mozilla – now Google are in the browser wars?”
His point is good, because without funding, Mozilla could really struggle.
I will be downloading the new google chrome beta tomorrow – should be interesting…..

I think IE will still be around for quite a long time, it’s built into Windows after all. And there are still many people who don’t really know other browsers exist or how to get other browsers. Even I still prefer IE because it loads faster than all other browsers. I don’t have time to wait for a browser to take 10 seconds to load.
If this Google browser looks good, has just as many (and good) features as Firefox does, I can see it replacing Firefox down the road, at least for Google fans. There are some that aren’t a fan of Google (whether they used to be or never were).
As for Safari, I think Apple was a little late in the browser war as far as Windows goes anyway. So Safari may die off.
The real question is, will websites look fine in the browser? Will we have to start recoding our sites to look good in yet another browser?
I definitely will try out the browser as soon as it is available. I can’t wait to see what Google has been up to.
